Tubular Tyre
tyres
A tubular tyre is sewn around an inner tube and glued (or taped) to a tubular-specific rim. It's the traditional racing tyre format and has largely been superseded by clinchers and tubeless for most riders.
Advantages: lighter at high-end, better ride feel for some riders, can be ridden flat in emergencies for short distances.
Disadvantages: complex installation (gluing), expensive, less convenient roadside repair (you usually carry a spare whole tyre, not just a tube).
Tubulars remain in use mostly in pro racing and by some traditionalist riders. They're rarely a practical choice for everyday riders today.
